Alta Badia

In the heart of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies the legendary and impressive Alta Badia Valley. Broad and sunny, surrounded by the majestic Dolomite mountains, Alta Badia consists of six smaller villages: Badia, Corvara, Colfosco/Kolfuschg, La Valle/Wengen, St. Kassian/ San Cassiano and La Villa. The two nature parks Fanes-Sennes-Braies and Puez-Geisler/Puez-Odle with their numerous impressive peaks are always worth a visit, in summer as well as in winter.

Tradition and uniqueness

In the Dolomites valley Alta Badia, besides German and Italian, people speak also Ladin, a Rhaeto-Romanic language. The Ladin culture is still lovingly preserved and protected. Much in this valley is still very untouched: the partly unspoilt landscapes with their bright green meadows, many forests and the rustic alpine huts, which are often still in use.

There are numerous hiking and cycling routes to explore, always surrounded by the marvellous panorama of the Dolomites, while golf lovers can prove their skills on a 9-hole course.

Paradise for all winter sports lovers

In the Alta Badia ski area you can experience 130 kilometres of fun on the slopes in winter. This also includes the circular tour of the plateau-shaped Sella Group, the so called "Sella Ronda".

The steep and spectacular Gran Risa slope is well known and is one of the most difficult race slopes of the Ski World Cup. Ski touring enthusiasts will also find plenty to do in Alta Badia. Furthermore there are cross-country ski trails and toboggan runs.

Enjoy Alta Badia with all senses

Numerous events round off the still wide offer of Alta Badia. From cycling races to horse-drawn sleigh races to parades in traditional costumes. This valley has a lot to offer all year round.

Gourmets will love the delightful restaurants, some of which are starred. No wonder that the Alta Badia has become one of the most popular destinations for holidays in South Tyrol.
