Badia

Badia is a small village in Alta Badia at the edge of the two nature parks Puez-Odle/Puez-Geisler and Fanes-Sennes-Braies. The village is composed of the small towns of San Leonardo and Pedraces and stands out above all for its unique location in the middle of the magnificent Dolomites.

Active in Badia

In winter, the Alta Badia ski area attracts many winter tourists with its kilometres of slopes. The circular tour of the plateau-shaped Sella Group, the so called Sella Ronda, is particularly popular among tourists. In the 130 km of slopes, ski tourers, cross-country skiers and toboggan fans will also get their fair share. The annual Ski World Cup races on the Gran Risa slope are a must for every ski fan.

In summer, the countless hiking trails and cycling paths in the Fanes-Sennes-Braies and Puez-Odle/Puez-Geisler nature parks are inviting you.

In July, Alta Badia hosts one of the most important races for cycling amateurs from all over the world - the Maratona dles Dolomites (Dolomites Marathon). The trail in the Dolomites has a length of 138 kilometres and an altitude difference of 4,190 metres.

Ladin traditions

Badia belongs to the Ladin-speaking communities of the Val Badia. Many traditions and customs are still very important. Numerous events, such as the "Leonardiritt" (Saint Leonhard horse parade), take place every year.
