Bruneck / Brunico

In the centre of the Val Pusteria/Pustertal, at the foot of the Plan de Corones/Kronplatz, there is the town of Brunico/Bruneck. The lively, colourful city has a historic centre and is located in a beautiful rural and idyllic area. Already from far away one can discover the beautiful Castel Brunico on a woody hill.

Holiday tips in Brunico/Bruneck

First of all you have to explore the city... preferably during a leisurely walk through the old town: between narrow alleys, mighty city gates and historical buildings. The Brunico's Stadtgasse is recommended for shopping, since it is one of the most beautiful shopping streets in South Tyrol!

If you are interested in culture, the South Tyrolean Folklore Museum in Teodone/Dietenheim and the City Museum of Brunico/Bruneck are the right place for you.

All year round Brunico/Bruneck offers a colourful programme: from summer concerts and shopping evenings to the famous Stegen Market in October and the contemplative Christmas Market in wintertime.

At night Brunico/bruneck becomes very lively. Many bars, pubs and discos provide a lot of fun and entertainment, especially on weekends.

The surroundings of Brunico/Bruneck

The town on the Rienza/Rienz is located directly on the Plan de Corones/Kronplatz - the skiing area N° 1 in South Tyrol and one of the most popular skiing areas in Italy. With 119 km of slopes, here skiers will find everything they could wish for. After a long ski-day, you can rest in one of the many ski huts in the surroundings, which serve typical local dishes.

Also in summer, it is possible to hike and make exciting mountain tours on the Plan de Corones/Kronplatz. The Val Badia, which lies south of the Val Pusteria, also offers some hiking possibilities in the proximity. Here you can also find the famous Dolomites mountains.

There are two cycling paths close to Brunico/Bruneck: the Pusterbike Cycle Path and the Tures Cycle Path. Mountain bikers can try themselves at the Freeride Trail on the Plan de Corones/Kronplatz and enjoy a wonderful view.
