Kaltern an der Weinstraße / Caldaro s. Strada del Vino

Caldaro/Kaltern, a sunny wine village directly on Lake Caldaro, is part of the South Tyrol holiday region and is particularly known for its excellent wines. Due to the mild Mediterranean climate and the many hours of sunshine, in this area there is a lot to discover all year round.

Spring comes relatively earls here in the south, so already in mid-February the first flowers and blossoms sprout in the Spring Valley near Caldaro/Kaltern. A stroll through this famous valley is highly recommended.

Other hikes take you through magnificent vineyards, green meadows or around Lake Caldaro, the warmest bathing lake in the Alps!

An excursion to the Mendola/Mendel, the local mountain of Caldaro/Kaltern, is also very enjoyable. Once at the top, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Val d'Adige/Etschtal and the surrounding countryside

In winter Caldaro/Kaltern turns into an idyllic Christmas village. In the pre-Christmas period on the village square you can find a traditional Christmas market with small stands, homemade food and tasty delicacies. South Tyrol's largest Christmas market in Bolzano/Bozen is only a few kilometres from Caldaro/Kaltern.

It is also possible to go ice skating on Lake Caldaro and those who come for skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing are spoilt for choice between various ski resorts nearby, such as the Corno del Renon ski area or the Reinswald ski area in the Val Sarentino/Sarntal.
