Chiusa / Klausen
Chiusa/Klausen lies in the heart of the holiday region of the Valle Isarco/Eisack Valley and is towered over by the beautiful Sabiona Monastery. The holiday area leads up to the Sarntal Alps, from where you have a great view on the Dolomites of the Valle Isarco/Eisack Valley. The historical centre of Chiusa/Klausen
Chiusa/Klausen is also known as the city of artists and for many it is one of the most beautiful places in Italy. Albrecht Dürer also stopped here and his copperplate engraving "Nemesis - The Great Joy" offers a splendid panoramic view of the city. For hundreds of years Chiusa/Klausen has been a popular destination for artists and poets.
In the medieval town houses, between the charming alleys of the old town, there are many shops that invite you to shopping - here you can find clothes of all colors, local handicrafts and delicious specialties of the region. A pleasant walk along the beautiful Promenades of Chiusa/Klausen is a must for a relaxing holiday.
Hiking in the surroundings of Chiusa/Klausen
Do not miss the short excursion to the rock spur enthroned by the Sabiona Monastery. Here you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view. The Sabiona Monastery itself is one of the oldest pilgrimage sites in Tyrol. Moreover, during the excursions you can admire beautiful rural mountain farms.
Especially in summer, Chiusa/Klausen is an ideal starting point for more challenging hikes - for example to the Holy Cross of Lazfons. In winter, some hotels also offer snowshoeing tours in the snow.
