Missian / Missiano

The village of Missian makes part of the municipality of Eppan an der Weinstraße and is famous for its beautiful landscape, surrounded by meadows and vineyards. Also, from Missian you can enjoy a great view of the Etschtal Valley and the Schlern mountain. Missian is situated very centrally but is very quiet and peaceful anyway.

An active holiday in Missian

Missian is a great starting point for hiking and cycling. Other highlights are the three castles above Missian: Appiano Castle, Korb Castle, and Boymont Castle. All three castles can be reached with a beautiful hike. The small, idyllic church on the town square and in the middle of the vineyards is worth a visit, too. Those who want to play some golf can find two beautiful courses in Eppan.

For winter sports, many skiing areas are located close to Missian. Smaller skiing resorts, like Ruffrè on the Mendel Pass and Jochgrimm at Reggelberg, can be reached by car in just a few minutes. Bigger resorts, like Obereggen, Meran 2000, and Seiser Alm are close to Missian, too. South Tyrol is a true paradise when it comes to winter sports and has something to offer for every taste: perfectly prepared slopes with great views, many possibilities for hiking in the fresh snow, and traditional huts and restaurants.

Those who happen to be in Missian around Christmas time, should not miss the Christmas market with manger exhibition in Eppan. The small Christmas market far away from the hustle and buzzle is the perfect place for those who want to enjoy the most beautiful time of the year in a relaxed way, while the most famous Christmas market takes place in Bozen and can be reached within 15 minutes.
