Monticolo/Montiggl is a protected natural area far away from the bustle of everyday life and frequented by people who are looking for a peaceful place to experience unforgettable moments.

Attractions in and around Montiggl

The two Monticolo lakes are embedded in the beautiful and dense Montiggl forest. In summer, the two lakes and the lido are ideal for cooling off and promise lots of fun and it is worth going there with the family.

In spring, we recommend a walk through the Spring Valley, where countless snowdrops grow already in February. At the end of the valley, you reach the famous Lake Caldaro.

In Montiggl/Monticolo every two years a wine event called “Montiggler Weis(s)e” (the whites of Monticolo/Montiggl) takes place, where wines from the area are presented.

Another important attraction is the MMM (Messner Mountain Museum) Firmian in Sigmundskron Castle near Bozen, which is the largest castle complex in South Tyrol.
