  • horse rides through beautiful meadows.

In addition, numerous festivals take place in South Tyrol in summer, inviting visitors to experience South Tyrol's traditions and customs at first hand.

Tips for hot summer days

For those who want to escape from the summer heat of the cities of Bolzano and Merano, a visit to one of the many swimming pools or lakes in South Tyrol is a must. Almost every town in South Tyrol has its own swimming pool. Worth mentioning here are the Thermal Baths of Merano/Meran and the Adventure Pools of Naturno/Naturns, Bressanone/Brixen and San Candido/Innichen. Jumping into a lake such as the Lake Kaltern, the Montiggler Seen near Appiano/Eppan or the Wolfsgrubener See in the Renon Valley is also a great way to cool off.

Alternatively, you can take the cable car to higher areas and escape the heat. In Bolzano/Bozen there are three different cable cars, namely the Renon's cable car, the cable car San Genesio/Jenesien and the Kohlern/Colle cable car, which will take you to lofty heights in just a few minutes. All those who are in Merano/Meran and want to reach higher areas can take the cable car Texel from Parcines/Partschins to the 1,544 metre high Giggelberg. But also in the other parts of South Tyrol the most modern lifts are waiting for you and will take you to breathtaking heights in a short time. The cable car Klausberg in Valli di Tures e Aurina/Tauferer Ahrntal, the Alpe di Siusi cable car and the San Martino in Monte cable car in Val Venosta/Vinschgau are just a few examples.
