Feldthurns / Velturno

Velturno/Feldthurns in the Valle Isarco/Eisack Valley is a special holiday destination located in the sunny, medium-altitude mountains between Bressanone/Brixen and Chiusa/Klausen. The beautiful village is surrounded by many deciduous and chestnut trees and offers a wonderful view on the Dolomites and the Sarntal Alps. The local mountain of Velturno/Feldthurns is the Monte del Pascolo/Königanger, with 2,439 metres of altitude.

In the village centre you can visit many pretty farmhouses and a Gothic church. To all those interested in culture we also recommend a visit to Castel Velturno.

It's all about chestnut

The Törggelen in South Tyrol has a long tradition. And the place of origin of this ancient autumn custom is Velturno/Feldthurns. Today Velturno/Feldthurns is still one of the most beautiful places in South Tyrol where you can enjoy Törggelen. The chestnut is the landmark of the village and there are about 3,300 chestnut trees in Velturno/Feldthurns!

In autumn the "Chestnut trail" - a pleasant walk through suggestive chestnut woods - is a real highlight.

There are also many hiking and biking trails along the Isarco River. For those who like to go high up we recommend a hike to Lago Rodella lake/Radlsee or to the Villandro Alp. Once you arrive, the mountain huts in this area will pamper you with delicious culinary delights from the Valle Isarco/Eisack Valley.
