How about a winter holiday on the sunny side of the Alps in South Tyrol? Winter in South Tyrol means adventure, variety, fun and action. At this time of the year, the landscape of South Tyrol turns into a magical setting, in the midst of an imposing mountain world and the well-prepared slopes are suitable for numerous experiences and activities in the snow.

Fun on the slopes in South Tyrol

Here in South Tyrol, the two ski areas "Dolomiti Superski" and "Ortler Skiarena" with a total of 28 ski resorts and around 1,600 km of slopes are waiting for enthusiastic skiers, snowboarders and tobogganists. While "Dolomiti Superski" with ski resorts such as Three Peaks Dolomites, Gitschberg-Jochtal, Val Gardena/Gröden-Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm, Plan de Corones/Kronplatz and Obereggen is the largest ski area in the world, the "Ortler Skiarena" with ski resorts such as Merano 2000/Meran 2000, San Martino in Sarentino/Reinswald, Corno del Renon/Rittner Horn, Val Senales/Schnalstal and the ski resort Schwemmalm in the Val d'Ultimo/Ultental unites the areas of the western part of the region.

Cross-country skiers are also welcome in South Tyrol and can let off steam on the approximately 1,800-kilometre-long cross-country trails. Most of the trails are located in the immediate surroundings of the ski areas.

More winter activities

Activities such as ice skating on frozen lakes and ice skating rinks or ice climbing in various climbing areas ensure pure leisure pleasure. For example, passionate ice-skaters can enjoy wonderful ice skating on the Lag di Fiè/Völser Weiher or on the Lago di Resia/Reschensee bathing lake in winter, while both experienced and less experienced ice climbers will love the climbing areas in the Val Passiria/Passeiertal or Valle di Tures e Aurina/Tauferer Ahrntal.

For all those who are looking for some peace and quiet, a snowshoe walk or a winter hike in the winter wonderland of the Dolomites or to one of the many mountain lakes is exactly the right thing. Several hotels in South Tyrol offer you the right equipment for snowshoeing.

Furthermore, numerous Christmas Markets take place in Germany during the Christmas season, which are only waiting for you.
